Where to go to chill out.
If the last two weeks have been any indication, Oklahoma is in for a hot summer. That’s alright with us, though, these higher temps just mean more opportunities for a satisfying cooldown. We’ve rounded up five partner destinations to visit this summer to do just that. Check out these exciting ways to have fun in the sun (SPF not included).
RIVERSPORT Whitewater Adventures
Grab some friends and head to Davis to float the Washita River. You’re free to float at your leisure, but a typical float trip lasts about four hours, so bring your sunscreen! Make your reservations for July and August online here. Tubes are $20 per person and available to guests 12 and older.
Swimming at Little Niagara
This popular swimming hole in the Chickasaw National Recreation Area attracts visitors with peaceful sounds of cascading falls and cool, clear water. After you’ve taken a dip, there’s still Veterans Lake and many trails nearby to explore.
Treats from Capitals Ice Cream
Ordering ice cream blended with Cap’n Crunch isn’t just good for lifting your spirits, it’s also a great way to cool off while strolling through Midtown. There’s tons of fresh fruits, cereals and other mix-ins to enjoy in addition to its locally roasted cold brew coffee and craft beers. Capitals also just added an avocado lime ice cream flavor we can’t wait to try.
Float Trips with River Bottom Tubing
Experience the thrills of whitewater rafting, tubing and kayaking in the Boathouse District this summer! With varying levels of rapids, this is a great activity for a family outing or team building. And if you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at surfing, the new Surf OKC opens in August. Get your RIVERSPORT season pass for 30% off now through June 30.
Water Feature at Myriad Botanical Gardens
Located next to the Park House Events Center, the seasonal plaza water feature offers relief and fun to Downtown OKC pedestrians every day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Come play a little after exploring the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory and beautiful outdoor grounds.
