Your fall adventure awaits!
The season for chilly weather, apple cider, pumpkins and quality time around the campfire is finally here! It’s a great time for making lasting family memories, and there are plenty of fall events going on this October for you to do just that. Whether you’re looking for trick-or-treating, costume contests, hay mazes or pumpkin patches, the thrilling and sometimes bone-chilling experiences you’re looking for are on Adventure Road. Let’s get into them!
Brown Ranch Hay Maze
October marks the reopening of Oklahoma’s largest hay maze! Ardmore’s Brown Ranch offers visitors an agri-adventure filled with over 20 kid-friendly activities like hayrides, a kids train, a “gold mine” made from corn kernels, a Chicken Chunk and much more! The maze itself is constructed from about 1.5 million pounds of hay and redesigned each year to give return visitors a fun, new challenge. The best part? Admission includes complimentary s’mores and a hot dog meal! The 17th annual season runs all through the month of October on Thursdays and Fridays from 5-9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 2-9 p.m.
HALLOWFEST at Frontier City
Spirited fun and haunted experiences join forces with Frontier City’s daily rides and games through the end of the month. By day, trick-or-treating, mazes and live musical performances return to the park. But, as soon as the clock strikes 7 p.m., spine-tingling scare zones, masked creatures, fright trails and more are unleashed. The eerie fog and menacing music throughout the park create the perfect backdrop to riding coasters in the dead of night! Advance reservations are required so make yours today while you can.
Halloween Train at Oklahoma Railway Museum
All aboard for Halloween fun! Wear your scariest, silliest or coolest costume and head to the Oklahoma Railway Museum October 30-31! This unique trick-or-treating experience is perfect for train lovers and kids of all ages. Trains leave the station at various times throughout the two-day event, and then the real fun comes with goodie bags and a ride through Oklahoma City. The activities continue with a Halloween Scavenger Hunt, mini golf and a costume contest. Tickets are $12 for ages 13 and older and $5 for kids age 3-12. Kids under 3 ride for free!
Haunt the Zoo
Back for its 37th year, Haunt the Zoo is inviting kids and their families to experience their favorite animals and collect candy along the way! The Oklahoma City Zoo will be set up with 27 festively themed booths handing out tasty treats from costumed volunteers, contact-free. Adults are encouraged to dress up, too, but nothing too scary. Zoo admission and official trick-or-treat bags are required and can be purchased for $7 per person ($6 for ZOOfriends members). Plus, your admission includes access to the hay maze, Cheetah Racing Lines and the Giant Pumpkin Patch. Get your tickets in advance and enjoy this festive zoo experience on weekends throughout October!
The Great Pumpkin Patch at Myriad Botanical Gardens
If you love Myriad Gardens’ annual Pumpkinville event, you’re going to love this socially distanced alternative that brings all of the same creativity and artistic detail to Downtown OKC. The Great Pumpkin Patch will feature six large-scale pumpkin mosaics all around Garden grounds to create bright fall colors and intricate designs that make for a great photo op spot! Then, head over to the Devon Lawn to purchase your own and take part in hay bale and corn stalk mazes, trick-or-treating, pumpkin decorating, scarecrows and more. Come visit daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from October 16-25.
HeyDay Norman has been taken over by super-sweet deals and spooky family-friendly fun! All month long, visitors can take advantage of specials on food menu items and wristbands, plus join in on trick-or-treating and costume contests at the end of October. Kids will love refueling with a Jack-O’-Lantern Pizza and Graveyard Dirt Cake after a full day of laser tag, ropes courses, bowling, mini golf and all the other fantastic activities HeyDay has to offer. And parents will love the drink specials!
October is a great time to hit the road for a family adventure. What are you most looking forward to this fall?
