Saturday, July 22, marks the 18th Annual National Day of the Cowboy, a bill passed into law in 15 states! The bill serves to permanently protect cowboy culture and pioneer heritage, and there are many ways to join in the fun this year on Adventure Road. Head over to these destinations to tip your hat to an iconic American figure.
National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum

Honor cowboy culture and pioneering heritage while embracing your inner cowboy or cowgirl at the Museum’s National Day of the Cowboy event, Saturday, July 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Get dressed up in your Western duds and enjoy performances by the Oklahoma Opry and reenactors, basket weaving demonstrations, family-friendly activities and crafts and attractions like Prosperity Junction and Liichokoshkomo’.
Chisholm Trail Heritage Center

Duncan’s Chisholm Trail Heritage Center will host its annual event celebrating cowboy and western culture on Saturday, July 22, beginning at 10 a.m. For its 13th year, the theme is “Three States, One Trail.” The fun will kick off with “The Wild Boys,” followed by live music by Missy Frye and Gaylon Blankenship, book readings by local authors Marilyn Brooks and Marilyn Pineda, as well as entertainment by author E. Joe Brown.
Cattlemen’s Steakhouse

You can truly eat like a cowboy in historic Stockyards City. An OKC institution for over 100 years, Cattlemen’s once served as a hitching post for hungry cowboys and ranchers traveling through the state.
